On the Merrickville cenotaph, there was a J Drennan, and a A. Lee listed. However, there is no record of anyone from the Merrickville area who died in WWI with those names. The only information is as follows:
There was a John Drennan who lived in Elizabethtown as a homeboy in 1851 but no other J Drennan could be found who lived in the Leeds or Merrickville area.
There was an Alfred Lee born in 1881 who lived in Leeds County as a farmer, married to Bertha and had three children in 1911 with two adopted children as well. They moved to Frontenac County sometime between 1911 and 1921. There is no record of him serving in the military and in fact had another child born in 1918 so it is very unlikely he served in WWI.
Following is the dates of death of the 31 Merrickville area men who died in WWI.
